Chaela moves as if there is no more tomorrow. She gets involved in tons of things related to fitness, travel, dining, culture, and beauty. But she’s not just getting into them for the sake of trying, as much as she is a person that is willing to try. She studies them and analyzes its meaning, especially their purpose in her life. Every experience is a learning that she would always want to communicate with people around her. Such modern endeavors now serve as life lessons. She is the kind of woman who will fly to Jakarta for less than a day just to watch a rock band and conclude it as the most romantic thing in her life. Not chaos—romanticism. She’s always had a positive outlook in the things she gets into.
The description so far sounds like she’s fun and chaotic, but she’s actually strategic, deliberate, elegant, and optimized while keeping adventurous, explorative, and fearless. She will boulder, hike, climb, run, jump with lash extensions on, she will risk her Sony camera and tripod to self-capture her Thailand biking tour, she would try a chicken-flavored savory cocktail, and she would ride a Move It/Angkas motorcycle to travel to the fanciest of places. All that would still be romantic and beautiful to her. She is not afraid to take on the most different things as she will always find the good in them.
Here’s her take on her five primary things:
Fitness is existential. While she thinks one is not defined by activities, she finds that the fitness side of life is one where you can quantify self-improvement. This is why she gets into them, be it that she’s good or not. She is a jack of all trades (all trades meaning: yoga, pilates, golf, weightlifting, swimming, jumping, racketing, dancing, spinning, and barre. To her, fitness has two sides: discipline and toughness, and self-awareness and softness.
Travel, dining, and culture are three endeavors that go hand-in-hand for her. She finds them to be an avenue of learning and growth, and understanding stories of other individuals outside of the usual social setting. She’d go to a popular country like Thailand but opt for non-touristy spots such as Bar Us Bangkok, Banyan Tree Dinner Cruise, Restaurant Potong, or completely go off the mainstream travel grid and go to Jaipur, India. As long as she discovers something different and untold by social media.
As for beauty, well who does not want to go into that? But for Chaela, beauty is expression, and not just getting into what everyone has been finding pretty. To her, beauty is alignment with the self, and consequently, the ability to express that and make it into a brand.
To end, she is the woman who will say, “Everything is romantic,” and mean it—not because life is easy, but because she insists on seeing it that way.
